Something Blue

I've always loved the wedding day tradition of "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue". The timeless practice of finding the perfect piece to fit each part of the saying is so special. My "something blue" was an embroidered swatch of fabric sewn into my wedding gown that featured the married monogram of my husband and I, along with our wedding date. The most special part about the fabric used, is that the swatch came from my mother's wedding gown. One day, I hope to carefully remove the swatch, and sew it into my daughter's gown, along with a swatch from my dress.

Do any of you have a special story about your something old, new borrowed or blue? I'd love to hear them! If you're searching for something blue, you might consider this lovely pin with a blue charm from BHLDN. I can just see it becoming a family keepsake, can't you?

oh this is such a great idea! I wish I had known about this when I got married, I would have totally done it. Maybe I can do it if I ever have a daughter :-)

For my something blue, old, and borrowed, I used a pin that had belonged to my grandfather. I also had my wedding date embroidered into the lining of my dress. One of my favorite little details!

Aw how cute! I love that you are passing your tradition on through the generations. How sweet!!!! I'm not married (or engaged) but I will definitely remember this :)
