I'm loving all of the lobster motifs I've seen in fashion, home decor and accessories this summer. I'm dying for the lobster sweater below, but maybe at a lower price point? The little studs and statement necklace are perfect, too.

Currently Loving... Maritime Drink Strirrers
I'm certain these rope-inspired stirrers would make any drink more fun. As you may know, I'm obsessed with anything that has a nautical flair, so these pretties made my heart skip a beat! Wouldn't they be cute to use at an engagement party or shower (tying the knot, get it?)

Nautical Treasures
My love for all things nautical continues this spring, as kate spade delights with pretty gold nautical themed treasures. I'll take one of each, please.

Octopus Art
I'm really not that thrilled by a real, live octopus (I think they are kind of icky...), but these pieces of octopus art are really catching my eye. There is something strangely beautiful and mysterious about their swirling legs, no? I'm especially loving the navy blue silhouette in the bottom right photo.

Sailing and the City
If you know me personally, you know that I adore anything and everything that is nautical. I especially love anything related to sailing. I really don't have any idea how to sail -- I know certain keywords and such, that's all. I am just obsessed with the idea of it. I've always wanted to be a sailor.
Last weekend, our (new to me, the Mr. already knew them) friends took us for a sailing trip out on the lake. Sailing alongside the city was so wonderful -- the best views! Although it wasn't the most windy of days, we had the sails up for a while before we motored around. We've been promised another trip once the Windy City is being true to its name. I can't wait! I've been seriously considering taking sailing lessons now that we live on the water. Can you think of anything more fun?

Vintage-Inspired Beach Essentials
I’ve been spending my summers at the beach since I was born. My parents, their parents, and parents before them have been lived seaside during the summer for years and years. I love looking at old photographs of my parents and grandparents as teens on the beach – they were so stylish! Seeing the chic retro bathing suits, big sunglasses and floppy hats is so neat. Going to the beach was just a bit more glamorous back then, don’t you think? Here are a few vintage-inspired beach essentials to bring back that glam look this summer:

Sailor Styles for the Home
I've always wanted to learn how to sail. Someday, when my hubby and I are retired and carefree, I'll be a sailor. In the meantime, I'll settle for anything nautical. Lately, nautical and coastal interiors have been catching my eye. The crisp blues, the weathered whites, the rope and knot details... I get lost in them. There are two craft projects I'm itching to do - both of the nautical nature, of course!
I think I'll pull out the old sewing machine and make a few pillows that mimic nautical flags, like the ones pictured above from Coastal Living. There will be a pillow for J (for my name), R (my husband's name), T (our last name), and B (for Bean, our Boston Terrier.) If you don't have a sewing machine, but you'd like some of these nautical flag pillows for yourself, Coastal Cushions offers a whole collection.
Once I've whipped up some pillows fit for a sailor, I'd like to to get tied up in this project:
I think one of these would look lovely in the same room as my nautical pillows, don't you think?
